I just ran 3dmark 06 and got 4500. I know I should be getting more than this. I used to get about 7100. I just installed a 20.1" widescreen, but I ran the resolution at 1280x1024 on 3dMark. Would this cause my score to lower. I closed all unnecessary programs. Is there any program that can tell me if there is anything that is using too much graphical resources. My CPU score was the same, but my graphics scores are way down.

Unnecessary could drop your benchmark as could the different resolution.

Any I doubt anything's using your graphical resources, just your whole system's resources. Obviously, if you're whole system is slowing down, your graphics will suffer as well.

i read in maximum pc mag that your video card has to work harder on larger monitors, like it has to throw more pixels on the screen. do you still have your old monitor? hook that back up and compare the numbers.

I tried that, but it said frequency out of range or something like that.

got it hooked up to the old 17", but I got the same score. This is really starting to bother me. Any more ideas?

you haven't changed anything besides the monitor since your scores were higher? you have all the setting the same? do a system restore to back then and try it. if you still get a lower score, it's most likely not a software issue.
