please add some suggestions on better hardware than what i may have put down(at about the same price)

that looks like a very good computer. although if ur using it for gaming u know that ur dual core processor can be fully utilized while gaming. so if ur a mainstream gamer u might wanna go with sometihng more like

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103497

o and i might also add that the audigy 2 is a good card but for the same price (i think) u can get the x-fi which is probably better. but i know the gamer comes with lots of software so if u want that then get the gamer model.

thats pretty close to mine.
now, if YOU want, keep the onboard audio for now, and use the extra cash to sink in somthing better or keep it if you want, either way, its still nice

great video card
great processor

do you have a psu?
if not, check out the Antec NEO HE
i have it and it nice

well if ur doin a lot of multitasking then get hte X2 but if ur really only doin gaming u dont need a dual core becuase games cant utiliza dual cores yet. they will be able to in the future.

yes please elaberate for me
are you saying dual core wont do anything for the purpose of gaming
just having it will help other things??

also i do plan on OCing so how does the 4000+ do with this

The dual core would be used if you have alot of programs open and your doing alot of multitasking.

The AMD 4000 can handle pretty much any game, and overclocked its even better. So if your just doing gaming that would be fine. If your gonna do gaming and alot of extra work and stuff, get the dual core.

Also, do you need such a big HD? If its for gaming I suggest atleast a 10K RPM HD, I guess your putting like 15 games in your computer since you have 250GB. Not sure if they make a 250GB/10K HD, I would suggest RAID ing 2 HD together.

Something like 2 x 74GB/10K = close to 148GB Total.

Split your games between the 2 HDs so they dont leech all the RPMs.

(someone correct me....)

if youve read HDD 101 it doesnt matter if you get the 10k rpm or a 7200rpm b/c they are almost the same
From a value perspective, there is almost no reason to recommend the WD 10k drives: one can get a 300GB Maxtor 16MB cache drive for the same price as a 74gb Raptor II. Now if the Raptor swept the floor it would probably be justifiable to purchase it however that was not the case. Perhaps if/when a 10k 16MB cache drive is released, the high-end drive market can be a bit more clear-cut

As for a PSU check PSU101 it helped me alot when i was choosing mine.

the 4000+ can run all the games easely :)
tough.. you might want to go wor 2Gb of RAM instead ( and keep the X2, it runns games alro just great. :) ) because games like FEAR really like having more than 1Gb
(I'm getting myself another Gb of RAM as soon as i have my driving licence, then ill have the monney again.)
thats really worth an investment. and to pay the Ram, you could wipe the audigy grom your list.
but. its your dicission ofcourse :)

That doesn;t mean anything, i have over 600 games on my computer and I have a 120GB harddrive, and use only half.

i guess your right about the dualcore's "but" here in the near future i would think that games will soon take advantage of it, am i correct

also if i used a 4000+ would it be smart to use something like pc3500 considering im ocing the cpu

another thing,,,so the sound card dont really mean $H!T or what
cause 2gb ram sounds so much better

does raid(where it spilts the labour)help with fps(i hear thats better for stuff like AOM, which i like) during gameplay
if so i might go that way

1. Looks like you left out a PSU
2. Decent stuff all around but nothing special.

- AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 [S939, Manchester, ADA4200DAA5BV, $400]
- DFI LanParty UT NF4 UltraD [$125]
- eVGA 7800GTX [470/600, $470]
- WD 250GB [16MB, SATA3.0, $130]
- Arctic Cooling Freezer64 [$30]
- OCz PC3200 VX 2x512MB [CL2, $145]
- OCZ PowerStream 520ADJ-SLI [$115 after $25MIR]
- SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS [$70]
Subtotal = $1485

Huh?

They cant? ;)

He is [incorrectly] suggestiung that games are not extensively multithreaded enough to benifit from a dual core CPU

what kind of power should i send to this baby
550W?, 650W?
and is it bad to be safe and go to high
See PSU 101.

If its for gaming I suggest atleast a 10K RPM HD,
1. At least? True SCSI drives are superior but theres not much of a benifit once the game is loaded
2. Yes Raptors are a must ... because there's just so much harddrive activity once the game is all loaded and all ;)

(someone correct me....)
Consider yourself corrected. Have a look at HDD 101 for more elaboration

Yes but try having 600 modern games. ;)

Not nearly as much as it did a few years back.

does raid(where it spilts the labour)help with fps(i hear thats better for stuff like AOM, which i like) during gameplay

It doesnt. Have a look at the RAID0 section in RAID 101 for more

i have have about 60 modern games on my pc, and only have a 160Gb HD.
all UT's, doom 3, fear, cod, cod2, all bf's etc. so, if youre only gaming the HD should be fine, tough,.. i dont have very much space left.. like 15Gb or something like that :) . ( suggesting a 250Gb HD tough.. ^_^ )

Yes but 60 is an order of magnitude off from 600 :) (that and often people will want to run disc images to avoid [potentially] damaging original discs :))
