Tell me if this laptop would be a good choice for what I want it for.

Location - www.IBUYPOWER.com
Computer Name - Battalion 101 S-Turbo

Processor - Mobile AMD Athlon-64 3200+CPU
Memory - 1024MB [1024MB X1] DDR-400 PC-3200 <-For later update to 2mb
Graphics Card - Mobility 128mb ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 256-Bit 3D Video <-- Would this be changable later on?
Hard Drive - Either 60gb 7200rpm or 100gb 5200rpm <---which do you think?

And for the rest its pretty simple.

What im looking to do with this laptop is take it to school with me ITT-Tech and later on when I get into the real Multi Media stuff java, animation, graphics, flash and so on be able to use it for that purpose. And also use it for word, excel, and powerpoint. Will also be used for Dvd's, Games, MP3s.

Anyone comments or suggestions please do tell.

Oh and it falls in my budget for $1500.

its not bad, but for $1500 you can get much better, look at dell's 9300 line, especially when they have sales you can get something like a Pentium M 1.73Ghz, 1GB DDR2, 60GB 5400rpm, GeForce Go 6800, and more.

The video card is decent, but dont expect to play the newest games at high settings. And for doing all your other projects besides gaming, a PM would suit you much better.

I checked out the Dell's 6000 and the 9300 I always take them over $2000. So the Pentium M 1.7ghz is compared to what AMD 64? I know I seend this posted somewhere but im confused on the Pentiums comparison on the AMDs.

*EDIT*
Ok well I just went and compared the two the 9300 and the one I posted above. $1,700 dollars for the Dell and 1,500 for the Battleion.

The Dell Specs would be...

-Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
-Operating System (Office software not included) Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
-Display 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+ Display
-Memory 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
-Video Card 256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
-Hard Drive 100GB Hard Drive

And you got the specs for the other one above.
The Battalion comes with Windows XP Pro, Free Carrying Case and some others. But Also I can see that that Mobile AMD 64 3200 and the Radeon 9700 combo isent as good at the Pentium 1.7ghz Nvidia 6800 Go correct?
