would this cpu fan good enough for my ocing opteron 165?

the big typhoon is proven through use. many forum members have it or ahve used it and its amazing.
 
i am not sure what is important in a cpu fan, i don't see any difference between this one and,

The difference is that the Big Typhoon is a superior cooler ... not to mention its more flexible: you can swap out the fan for a different one.

I dont know about 34erd, but ive used both. Not to mention, theres the classic "do your research" :)

I dont know, I triple checked for each install, and tried reinstalling several times. I dont know what I could have done wrong, but theres always the chance of a mistake...I just dont know what it could have been. I plan on trying it again someday with my new AMD setup (socket 939), as opposed to my LGA 775 Prescott. Maybe this time around it will work for me.
