The 1GB is about 6% faster, see the link above.

But TBH unless you get the 2GB one, £50 for a 6% performance increase is not worth it.

My GT240 has 2.7gb of ddr5 i believe and my bro is the ASROCK mobo and he currently has radeon hd 4300/4500 card he wants to upgrade to the 6570 card is it worth it?

for the money i'd take a gts250 or something over that, a 6570 won't do too much with dx11 and that stuff so under dx10 the gts250 kill that thing.

It also depends what case you have as well, not just motherboard. If it's the only gpu you're running, according to case and mobo you use it's compatible. If you can though, i'd step it up a bit because that card is too minor of an upgrade to be worth the trouble.
