Should I remove the old two 256 MBs stick and just have a Gig or keep them and have 1.5 Gig? I can't have Dual Channel anyway and I don't think it will improve a lot my speed...

Since it wont be dual channel either way you might as well go for more total RAM.

Should be good but i think mixing ram sometimes can be crap. In my old pc i added 1gb to 256 and the total ram read as 512 MB

How old is the OS?

Add to the ones if you have an extra slot and that the stick in there are no lower than DDR333.
