Would this upgrade be worth it ?

What I have:

Mobo: ASUS P4P800
VC: Radeon 9600 Pro
Ram: 4x256Mb Dual Channel PC2700
CPU: P4 2.4G 512 Cache 533MHz FSB

What I'm thinking about getting:
CPU: P4 3GHz 1Mb Cache 800MHz FSB
Ram: 2x512Mb Dual Channel PC3200

Would this show a significant improvement? (games, load times, data crunching). My hope is I can still sell the old components for a little $$ before they become too obsolete.

Hmmm... there's definitely an improvement there however a few things to note:
- Unless your mobo supports an 800MHz Bus, you'll be running it at 533Mhz which means your CPU will actually be running at 2.0GHz
- The processor you've got there is a socket478 chip and if the newer chip you plan to put in there is also socket478 then you'll have heat issues ... now if you upgrade to socket775 then you wont have to worry about those issues anymore...but that means money

My board definitely supports 800MHz FSB and chips at 3.2+GHz. If $$$ wasn't an issue then yes, a new mobo with 775 and PCI-express and all that would be in order :)

Well then the only issue at hand is that the new CPU is gonna be a heatbox. If you can, look for the 800MHz BUS 512K chips as they are better chips :) (look for "Northwood C")
