Would this work on a Asus M5A97 MB

I was wondering if this would be backward compatible with the M5A97 Asus motherboard. The board state pcie-x16 2.0.

It's the same price for the Radeon HD 6850 I was planning to get.

Can't to expensive, I am on a really tight budget.

Yes its backward compatible. I would rather have a 6850 over a 7770.
