Would You Leave Windows Firewall on for RouterModem Ethernet Cable Connection?

I just got a Time Warner Motorola RouterModem with 2 built in Firewalls and I have 1 laptop connected to it by ethernet cable as I don't want to get the Internet Wireless on it because it is slower. My question is, since the more firewalls one has, the slower possibly the internet connection, is it OK to turn ones Window Firewall off for the laptop with the ethernet cable connected to the RouterModem? Note the Router Modem is a single entity that acts as both a Modem and a Router. I asked Motorola and they said I didn't need to have the Windows Firewall On while Time Warner gave me a totally different answer. What do you think? Thanks

windows firewall is a software firewall the router firewalls are hardware firewalls.....just make sure you dont have 2 software firewalls activated at once because it could have unintended side effects
