Would you need to buy a new mobo and ram for a new cpu ?

I've already told you how to find the HT, Go to everest, motherboard, motherboard again and the second item down will be Front side bus properties. It will show your current hypertransport clock. If it says 1000mhz then you're set.

Supports AMD Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, and Sempron processors

But if HP has a bios up date for the X2 6000 is something else, dont think you would have a problem with the voltage but the X for the 6000 is 15 more than any other Athlon, so it might need a bios update for that . All 939 and AM2 motherboards have 200MHZ FSB and 1000MHZ Hypertransport

BTW my S939 gigabyte supports both 800 and 1000mhz bus speeds.

It will really go down to 200. In your Hypertransport speed settings thats why there is 1X-5X, 1x is 200, 2X is 400 and so on to X5 at 1000MHZ. The Hypertransport doesnt like much over 1000MHZ, that why you kick it back to X4 for 800MHZ when overclocking the FSB. 754 boards only had 800mhz Hypertransport- 1X-4X

I know, but it's still not called the FSB, more the HTT and HT Link. :P

My current HT link is 750mhz with a x2 3800, kind of low but I see no instability so I leave it. I've had a TON of trouble overclocking this POS..
 
Yea they dont technically have a FSB, but they have a internal bus plus the X to get the MHZ of the processor, like for the 6000, 200 with a X of 15= 3000MHZ. Its hard to get people to understand so I just use the word FSB

And is it vital i update my BIOS because i never have since i bought this computer lol ?
 
The X is the processors multiplier or cycles, like the 6000 it has a X of 15, 200X15 equals the speed it runs at 3000MHZ. Yes the 6000 will fit in your computer-same socket AM2. Like I said the 6000 has a 15 multiplier so I dont know if your bios will go to 15, more than likely it will. The best thing to do is go to there site and see what bios updates they have for it, or call them or email them to see if it will run a 6000 or if they have a bios update for the 6000

and is the 6000+ crap for gaming because people are saying that on this thread , so what is a good gaming amd cpu (stuff in intel because my mobo wont have intel and i cant install mobo's)
 
Well your board supports Dual Core, but the 6000 was just released around Feb. or March. The only way to know (for sure) is if you emailed or called HP and asked about your model number with the 6000 or someone had the same model and installed a 6000, but I really dont think you would have a problem. When did you get the computer?
 
I think he's good. Hell in the very off chance it doesn't work in his board he can always return it losing only 15%, If he's using newegg of course.

Anyone who says the 6000+ is bad for gaming is an intel-fanboy moron. :)
