Would you suggest me to buy new parts?

OK, well basically I built my computer in sig last christmas. Everything ran great and I was stoked about it, until around say last march. Things started to get messed up (and still do). Memory errors, web browsers need to close, I cant watch videos alot, etc.

Im thinking about this christmas buying a few new things.

First Im thinking about getting a new case. Also, a new processor (FX-57) and MAYBE 2 new gigs of ram (If that would solve my problem).

Anyway, when I would buy these parts, I would need to assemble everything in the new case. This would allow me to wire everything behind the motherboard like I always wanted to, which would drop temps significantly (also the case i want has 4 fans plus a vent vs. the 2 I have now).

Do you guys think this would be a good idea?

Do you think it would fix my errors and whatnot, if I just cleared all data that ever existed on anything? Thanks

dude...just format your HD and reinstall windows if you're getting alotta windows errors,if its viruses..get rid of those. You dont really need to upgrade

ya i was gonna say that, try reinstalling windows firsth thats probly your problem,
"AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester @ 2.5 Ghz
XFX Geforce 7800GT 256MB
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel Platinum
W.D. Caviar SE16 250GB 7200 RPM 3.0Gb/s HD
Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W"

if those are your current specs it should run great

Hmm. Ok.

However, I was kinda planning on getting a new case this Christmas already, and I really hate this Dual Core garbage. Its soo overrated.

Thus, I wanted to pick up the FX...

I wish I could just have like a friend who was like a computer fixer-guy, who could just come over and do all this for me and I could pay him :(

Well, I basically would rather want on powerful core than two mediocre ones. I mean, its not even like I can really take advantage of dual core, since whenever I check mostly ALL my apps are on Core 0 and barely anythings on Core 1....

Heh. I do not think it is a good idea. AMD is getting their butts kicked by Intel, so if you are in fact upgrading there is absolutely no reason to stick with AMD. Especially if you are considering an FX.

2GB of RAM is not necessary, but it is nice with Vista.

Just format and reinstall and see how things go. You might be pleasantly surprised. You do not need any new parts. You just need to learn to use what you have. If your memory is bad or something, just replace it and carry on.
