WoW Question

Hey guys. After hearing how MMORPG's are the next big thing in gaming (or they might have always been and I'm just now hearing about them:P ) I wanted to0 jump on the web with all my friends and stay up real late pretending to be an elf, knight, w/e. I have been hearing nothing but positive things about World of Warcraft. My friend recently bought the game and he said it was retarded but he wanted to give it a couple more hours. He called me the next day and said that he would not be coming out of h is room unless the his house caught fire and even then he would take his computer our onto the lawn and somehow keep playing:D . ... Anywayz I just wanted to ask you guys that have been playing WoW for a while if it is worth the purchase and then the $15 a month membership fee. Right now I'm saving up all my money for AM2 and I know it's going to be expensive:mad: and paying 15 bux a month is really going to put a dent in my funds, but then again if it's as good as it sounds then I'm buying it! Here are some questions that I need answered if I'm going to buy it.

1. Worth it? The membership fee and all?
2. How are the controls? Pretty intuitive after a while? Or does it take hours to figure out?
3. Can it keep me up for hours on end? I've heard about dragon raids and such but I'm sure the whole game isn't about that... or is it?;)
4. What is the best part of the game for all those WoW zombies out there? I want to join your zombie horde!:D
5. I have heard about there being different servers. This is a problem because I have a friend and all we talk about is how we want to "travel" WoW's lands together and join a guilde and all this crap... yada yada. I was wondering, are there different servers? And I'm guessing that my friend and I have to be on the same server.
6. How much is the expansion going to be?

I would be interested in it myself, but the $15 completely puts me off. I don't know much, but I'm pretty sure that there's a relatively low amount of servers for each continent. All you two have to do is make sure you join the same one [E.G. N. America #5]. Or something to that effect.

Ya... thats really the only thing that is making me question this buy... 15 bux a month for me is a lot, especially since I'm still in school and too young for a job :(

I would never play WoW, there are lots of people at my school who play it, and thats all they talk about! The second they sit down in class until the bell rings ther talking about there powers and levels and such, one kid said that he plays at least 8 hours a day because he has nothing better to do.

If you start playing WoW you will most likely become addicted and not want to do anything else except play that game. Not to mention its $15 a month and you can never win the dam thing.

I'll second that

Ya. My friend has only had it for a week and he has alraedy turned into a "WoW Zombie." His dad gets pissed at him all the time because that's all he ever does!

Problem I see with a game like WOW is the monthly fee. I'd hate to get the game and have to pay the fee. If I did not get addicted to it I would still feel that I should play it because I'm paying monthly to play it or not.

15 bucks a month is tight for me right now... especially because I'm saving for my new computer (if you have seen my signature you will agree with my actions with my money:D)... I think I'm just going to leave WoW alone... that is until I get my new computer and can afford the monthly fee

It is completely worth the money each month, i play once or twice a week. the controls are awesome, and easy, classes are very well built and some are complex but fun in the end. You have to join the same server, on WoW the servers are called Realms and have their own names, i.e "Eonar, Daggerspine, Scarlet Crusade, Sen'Jin, etc. etc. "
I highly, highly, recommend playing, hope to see you out there! :)

i have a 14-day trial i got with warcraft III battlechest. do you guys think i will be hooked and willing to pay $15 a month to continue? im not gonna play it until i get my new comp up and running.

btw....i have played a little bit at my cousins house, but that was only like an hour or so. it was a good game, but i dont know if it is worth all that money. at that time i didnt even know you had to pay a subscription fee and i didnt even want to pay $40 for it:P. lol

There is a $2AU trial version of the game available it is valid for up to 14 days. Try it but beware, it is very addictive, i have friends that r also really addicted to wow, and spend all there time infront of the pc playing it, and talk about it during school. The monthly fee also puts me of. while u were typing i was typing the same thing, lol, sorry

Yeah... it seems like everyone who plays it gets addicted (but thats just imo) Also imo being addicted seems like a waste of time. I've played it a little and i thought it was kinda lame. but ya... once you do get it, do your best not to get addicted

i pay the monthly fees because i like a game that keeps going on for a long time, if i dint play wow i wold be spending prob at least 50 dollars a month on other games that i would just beat in a week or so.

yea WoW is fun. Its like drugs. Expensive, addictive, addictive, and yea addictive. I played it for two months and stopped because it will suck out your soul and sell it on ebay. IT seriousl does. I have lost 3 friends to that game. I never see them anymore and havent heard from them in 3 months.
But heck other then that its great!

I'd use the Pre Paid thingy to play but when you sign up you still have to show credit card details and personally I dont have one, I dont really want one. So WoW is out of the question

Play it till you get 60 and sell the time you spent leveling your character for 250 bucks lol, also there is a 10 day free trial on the website so you can get 24 days +P.

after getting 2 60s and playing for a year, i killed my account.. to many 60s, not enough to do end game besides pvp, get bored and leave. Or, work on getting your set. Yea, set = 1 set.. get blue set, yay, get tier 1, yay get tier 2 .. yay then?

Need a big guild to do end game sets and stuff like MC and BWL.. so if you are in a guild with fewer then 20 ppl on at a time all 60s and no ally guilds then no MC for you.. so end game is bad for little guilds.

There is casual gamers "which the game was made for note why lvling is so ez" then there arepeople who get 60 in 9 days and get their best gear and 2 shot kill any one else. Class imbalances.. uuum, it was fun at first, after awhile not so much.

Oh and about those kids that talk about it all day in school.. that was me and every one else was that way because of me :( Then I left them and now when i hear them talkin about it im like o..m..g.. i was a loser.

Great

WoW is a great game.. I played for a while.. now my computer crashed due to a bug probably.. but since I cant seem to fix that one.. im buying a new one... and get back to WoW asap!!

If you like rpg games.. than you will defintly like mmos... just leveling up and be higher level than other people.. gives you a sense of .. improvement..

one thing that is a must... so the game will not get boring.. go to a PvP server!! which means in WoW if you are in a "contested area" anyone of the oposing faction can kill you.. or you kill them.. its not like high level characters come and camp out on the lowbies... Blizzard doesn't allow it.. so you have "uncontested areas" till you get very familiar with the game..

I could talk about it all day long.. if you have any questions.. or want someone to hang out with on the same server.. email me.. [email protected]

thanks michael
