Wow

I just upgraded from an old dell pentium 2 to a gateway GT5056 with an Amd 64 x2 3800+ and holy crap its like gliding through every program i use without even flinching. The only thing is that Halo was not running well i think it was my network though. But then i played cs 1.6 and it was fine so i dont know what it could be because i have a geforce 6100 with 224mb memory and dual channel 1024mb memory? can anyone help?

also i need a fairly good tv tuner but under 150?

Never compare any other high quality gfx demanding game with counter-strike. Counter-strike is over 5+ years old game. Any computer can run it smooth. Anyways Geforce 6100 sounds a little old but on the other hand Halo is an old game as well.

Yea its most like your GPU. The 224mb of memory probably isnt dedicated so its taking away for your system RAM. Take the 150 dollars for the TV tuner, and pair that X2 with something mid range.

i wasnt comparing them for my graphics card i was comparring my network to se if there was lag on cs but i no there old but also halo ran on my dads radeon x300 128mb card fine so i think it was my network

Either way CS can maintain a consistent 10-30 ping depending on how close the server is. Most high demanding graphic games tend to have a higher pint around 30-100.

yeah, it might be your video card. halo is known to be an annoying game when it comes to resources...when it first came out, in all the gpu tests none of them could get it to average over like 60 fps. With my system (in sig) i couldnt run it that smooth either, so i wouldnt worry too much about halo. try another game that you know you'll want (download the demos) and see how it runs at the settings you'd like. if it doesnt run well, get a new graphics card plain and simple.

I have a 3800+ X2 1.3GB ram, 7900gt and halo chops for my now and then, but other than that it runs at such high fps (I dunno the number, but Im used to like 20-30, and this is like amazing)

I'm quite sure(but not positive) that the 6100 doesn't have dedicated memory. It's probably similar the Xpress200 where it has some memory onboard(16M) and shares the rest from the system's RAM. Regardless, the card's still very low end.
