All started out great today, got my new order. I wanted to take of the nortbridge heatsink of my p5n-e sli and replace it with a thermalright hr-05.
After reading some guides it was a simple task of removing the pins and just "gently" pulling off the heatsink. NOT! Not only did i rip off the heatsink it took with it half of my 650i chip to... It simply tore apart.
Anyways i'm in need of a new mobo now. A few of the things i need:
- has to support 4gb ddr2 800mhz
- has to support my new q6700
- at least 4 sata ports
- 2 pci-e 2.0 ports (full speed preferably)
- crossfire support (going to upgrade to the 4870)
- separate cooling solution. I don't want any heatpipes going from my northbridge to my soutbridge or things like that. I still have some good heatsinks lying around.
- gbit nic
- at least 6 usb ports on the back
My budget tops out at around 200€.
I was thinking about getting something with an x38 or x48 chipset. The only mobo i've come across until now is this DFI. It looks grand and reviews are very promising. But i'm not really a genius overclocker.
Anyone has any recommendations?
