WRT310N Cat6 or Cat7 installation

I cant seem to find any information as to whether you can use cat6 or cat7 cable with the linksys wrt310n router... there was a SINGLE review on newegg for the router that says a person did use cat6

Do I even want to install anything above cat5e anyway? we are doing new construction so we want to "future proof" this and it seems like cat5e is starting to get replaced by cat6 these days

I think you are looking to far into this. 6 is fine. heck 5e is fine. that's what I use. Which you choose won't make a much of a difference.

Cat6 is faster, it is capable of gigabit speeds, but see if your router supports those. You will also have to buy NICs capable of gigabit speeds as well.

EDIT: Ok, googled your router, it does support gigabit ethernet. So get NICs capable of gigabit speeds and the Cat6 cables and you'll have one fast network.

A lot of people ask the question of which is faster but they don't state if it's for transferring files or mostly for internet browsing as seems to be the case in most instances. If for internet browsing, cable doesnt make for much of a difference. If for file sharing then there is a difference as long as all on network has gigabit capability.
