Yes, I know they are not out yet, but, I want to know what kind of power supply I will need. good, yet a low of a piece as I can go. I will not be doing SLI at all. only 1 PCI-E. Next, how much will they cost? approximatelly. I know 1 would be around, oh say, $650? maybe?

SLI is for Nvidia cards. I believe you meant crossfire. For a crossfire setup you will be looking at spending a significant amount of money for both cards and psu. I am sure someone can post a link about potential power requirements, most of it is speculation since ATI has released a limited amount of information.

Since they arent out we cant really say with any certainty the price or how much power they consume.

But if you have a decent power supply, you may not have to upgrade that.

I'm guessing he meant about using Crossfire, some Intel chipsets and some ATi chipsets support it. My 965P chipset suppports it for example.:)

I've heard that the R600 cards are absolutely enormous in physical. They're supposedlly longer than the current X1950 cards and mine only just fits!

Yeah, my power supple wont handle it. I know. And I want an R600 to play games of the future! Like Crysis. Someone said it Cripples dual 8800GTX, so, I know the R600 will beat dual 8800GTX in 1 card. I can only use 1 card. So, logically I need an R600. :) so, what PSU can power it up for the best price?

Firstly, are you really going to trust this "someone" considering there are billions of "someone's" in the world.... secondly, how the hell does this someone know how any R600 chip performs in a real world environment without it being released yet?

Methinks maybe this "someone" is either yourself trying to justify more money spending or this "someone" is a die hard AMD fan and is trying to convince you based on practically NO evidence.

I know the R600 will beat dual 8800GTX
You are having a laugh arent you...

The guy was on this forum. and no, its not me. lol. if it was me I would just ask. Plus if it was I wouldn't really think it was necessary to get an R600, would I?
1. the 8800GTS 640MB is not all that powerful.
2. I cant even use 2 cards so I would need 1 can can surely beat 1 8800GTX.

1. You never mentioned the GTS 640Mb, you spoke about the 8800GTX which is a million miles from the GTS

2. Again you didnt really talk about using one card, you said and i quote "I know the R600 will beat dual 8800GTX" note the key word "dual"

*EDIT* - oh and since when has what anyone said on this forum been the gospel truth, there are a fair few members who are grossly mis-informed, care to link to a quote?

well hell I don't know who to look for. Wasn't one of my threads so I'd be looking for days! And hay, it never hurts to be safe. At least I wouldn't have to upgrade for a while. and I have a 8800GTS 640MB.Its OK. Not what I was expecting it to be. IOW not as good as I'd hoped. For $380 I was expecting better. Hell, I play the Flight Simulator X on MAX and my native resolution and I get 15 FPS to 32FPS. Not impressive at all. GTX, big step? maybe, but doubt it. I want to be completely sure that what I'm getting is the best. So lets stop asking why and get down to business. What PSU will I need?

Ok ok, yeh, a lil bit off topic so ill just ask this one last thing, you sure your card is working properly, cos ive got the 320Mb which is lower than yours, i play BF2, CSS, HL2, NFS, UT2004, UT2 all of those on the max of EVERYTHING, full HDR in the source games, max AA, max AF and i seem to always get an average of around 30-35, this is all at native widescreen of 1440x900, granted BF2 and some others dont support widescreen, but hey, point still stands, i get amazing results with this card....

Yes, all other games are fantastic, and I love the graphics, blah blah blah. But if it can even handle flight simulator X, then whats that's saying about playing games like Crysis?
