WTF?! Ads in Games

i just heard on the news that they are thinking of puting Ads in games...

just wanted to see wat you guys think of this.
i think its a bad idea.
 
What do you mean? Like ad-ware? Or do you just mean they put up virtual billboards in the maps?
 
Adverts in games has been going on for a while. Not neccessarily proper tv style adverts, but billboards on games has been gong on for a while
 
I sometimes like the billboards. They seem to make it more real almost.
Do you get what im saying?
Cities arent an empty space with just buildings

its been going on since tony hawk's 2, i remember there being nokia adverts everywhere, i also vaguely remember a megadrive platform game that had McDonald's adverts everwhere.
 
I don't care just as long as there are no pop ups or anything. Signs are actually kind of cool because they make the game more realistic.
 
Acctually its been going on as long as I can remember. Mostly on Car racing and sports games. so its nothing new...
 
A korean (I think) RPG game that has ads in it. They are just like billboards and all kinds of stuff ingame.
 
They already put Advertisements in games: The nVidia logo at the beginning of the game, in Need for Speed Underground you could see posters on wall advertising 'Old Spice' and other things. In DRIV3R you can see posters on walls of nVidia and Nokia....

I can't believe this suprises you...look around you, advertising is EVERYWHERE, why would it not be in games? It's in movies, it's on TV, it's in the paper, go outside for 5 seconds and you'll se an add for something somewhere, your posters on the wall most likely have advertising on them...get used to it cause it ain't going away

I'd tell you to control the advertising and not let it control you....but I'm pretty sure you'd be incapable of such things

I agree....!
 
"USAF" (United States Air Force). It was made in 1999. But still very fun, the best combat flight sim I'm ever played (except for Freespace) :) I have Combat Flight Simulator 3 and its junk compared to USAF.

do you like to play ww2 flight sims? ( wuldnt have thought to find someone else who plays flightsims here :D )

i remmber Enter the Matix having porwerade Ad's in it.
also, when the physics ar etin really reat, i wouldnt mind ad's and billboards in FPS's... becaus you cn shoot em hen ^_^
