WTF WTF WTF WTF You can't build a system with even as close too as good specs as this. I just made my friend a comp is has all the same spec cept a GTX 260 core 216? Are they using a generic motherboard??? This is crazy! IF you find somehting i missed plese tell me because I am about to sell my $2500 computer to get this so i can add another GTX watercooling and a 24monitor to boot! My computer still has a 9950 be! LOOk http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227135 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227132 (has blue ray drive, but still) why is the one first mentioned so cheap? Now this makes me feel like i just cheated my firend....

Actually you could prolly build one with similar/better specs for the price. It appears to be using a generic power supply on the i7 setup though....

How? Just got my friend one with the same specs but gtx 260, the price was $1570 with gtx 2950 it was $1900 and with 285 about $1750 (note with $170 monitor) but still, No the other 2 i posted was just to compare the same and worse system which is showing how cheap the deal actually is. the know i can build those 2 no problem for much less :)

I could make a list and show you its cheaper... and this list even has a good power supply vs a generic on an ibuypower... Patriot memory vs generic memory, an SLI and Xfire capable motherboard...etc... and its still cheaper(well, it is after rebates lol)... So it is an ok deal but its not extraordinary.

no chance my friend, i tried to assemble a wishlist on newegg with all the cheapest types of the items needed (the did the same job) and it came to over $1600+

the good deal comes, when those of us who have been building computer for years jump in.

truth be told, i already have:
1. a nice case - Antec 1200
2. a nice ps - Seasonic 500w
3. a nice monitor - Viewsonic VP191b
4. a nice keyboard - Razer Lycosa
5. a nice mouse - Razer Deathadder
6. a nice dvd burner - plextor PX-755SA
7. a nice set of HD's - 2x 250GB WD, 2x 1TB WD

so i could do an equivalent system for about half that price. just need the motherboard, processor, ram, and graphics card.

but yes for someone who hasn't built their own computer, or if they built one many years ago... those are a good deal.

It is a good buy for people that don't have access to a builder. Although it is probably cheap ole no name PSU, RAM, MB which equals cheaper made chips and resistors and stuff which equals shorter lifespan and less chance for OC if you are into that. That 800w PSU sounds good to the average person but in reality it probably has to be 800w because it is cheaply made and probably really low amperage.

The average person only really knows about CPU's and graphics cards, they think all you need is those 2 things to be good to have a good computer and that is where they hook you.

Don't mistake this for a flame, this is a really good computer for some people who can't get one personally built.

i actually took a look at it its an ASUS motherboard! ITs a XION psu and the ram is a mojor brand as said on the ibuypower website they only use major brands. SO you know thsese are not no name parts, now, still why is it so cheap if i clarified that?

Yes it an asus motherboard, but XION power supplys are utter crap... and that ram is cheap no-name ram without heatspreaders.

i would imagine the ram is crucial or something along those lines, i've heard the el cheapo crucial has been getting good clocks, though. and as for XION i've never heard of it

Yeah, crucial ram is one of the few ddr3 ive seen on newegg without heatspreaders.

because this computer who makes them, most likely buys in bulk and gets huge discounts. they could be paying as much as half what you would pay for these parts (possibly less)

Not nearly half, maybe at best 10-15% as the cpu and mobo are not discounted extremely that much over (maybe $20-30) over what you would pay ordering from say, newegg.

i work in the electrical engineering field, and our multipliers are about 70%-80% off retail. there's no real way to know what they're actually paying for parts, unless you work there.

Take a look at the price per thousand units though... eg, for the core i7 920 the price per cpu per 1k units was at launch $284/per cpu/per thousand and was around $310 on newegg.

Not too bad if you really don't know how to build one. For $1300 I could build a tower far better than that thing:D

- Junk power supply, XION for real...no
- 1333 MHz DDR3 Kingston Value RAM...no
- The case is also junk...you could not give me that case:P

Like I said though...for people who don't want to build one or just know how, it will perform very well:good:

i doubt wherever you're getting those numbers, are the companies negotiated prices between each other. that sort of information is almost never public.

when a distributor approaches manufacturer and says, i want to buy a bulk stock of product x... most companies will not typically say, ok here are your prices. the manufacturer determines what multiplier they will give the distributor based how much they are going to buy in a given year. theres a ton of other things that go into the deal also. then the same thing happens from the distributor to the retailer.

what i'm saying is, whoever is supplying the company making those computers... is not necessarily paying 284 per unit of 1k... probably not even close to that.
