Wtf? Motherboard power connector...

Can anybody tell me why my Ultra X-Connect psu connector to the motherboard is four pins short on my DFI Lanparty nf4 SLI-DR mobo's connector?

Because its 4 pins short of your SLI-DR thats why
Some PSU's only have 20 pin conectors, so you need to buy a 20 to 24 pin convertor. Its not as good as native 24 pin but it will work.

Ultras use 20pin as standard, you can get a 24pin ultra connector though

Hi,

with most boards a 20 to 24 pin adapter is enough. However, with DFIs motherboards you should NOT do it or you'll probably have stability issues. Buy a native 24 pin PSU. Take a look at this thread at DFI-Street, it has a list of PSUs that work well with that mobo:

Heh...I went to 4 computer stores today, and none carried it, and only one actually knew what it was. The guy there said that DFI's mobo's can still work with the normal 20-pin connector, and just to put it in where it fits. I tried it, and there's only one way that it can go in. Do you think this will work?

The power lines still match up so it could work. The first 24pin Intel boards (the ones now might still be, I haven't checked) were tolerant of 20pin and I think the AMD boards are as well but you might have voltage stability problems, especially if you are using a high powered graphics card (or 2)

I was just looking in the DFI Mobo's manual, and it said that if you use an ATX instead of a BTX psu, it will work, but it will void the warranty.
