I've had a bit of problems with my gpu. Games and videos tend to be choppier than they should (not low framerates, it just seemed to 'skip' frames every once in a while), so i decided to test that and my memory. I looped memtest86 from my BIOS (i'm assuming it looped it because i fell asleep when it was going the first run - it took forever - and then when I woke up it was still going and it said '9' under the word 'Pass' so i'm guessing it just passed the test 9 times without errors) to test the memory. That obviously wasn't the problem. What is wrong? I use coolbits to oc a little, but only at the optimal frequencies (not very high). My temps go from the 40's to the high 60's during a full load. I've already talked to who I got my parts from, and they suggested I test it on some gpu-heavy games to see what the difference was since I first got it (i havent always had this problem).
get this...I now run quake 4 at UNDER 10fps at High quality, 1680x1050, max settings. I used to average around 60. Cod2 is running under 15 or 20 when it used to run at like 35-40. my 3dmark06 score dropped from 4300 to 3200 for no apparent reason.
so. i'm thinking about calling them up again and getting it replaced, perhaps ask if i can spend a couple bucks and get an upgrade to a 7900GT. should I?
no it's only doing it with quake4....the others seem to be about normal now. i'll try 3dm06 again and see...
