I'm so sick of people and critics putting down WWII games and why they keep coming out with WWII games that I want to explode!!! Simple as this......you don't like them don't play them. I can't get enough of the WWII games simple because of the action that is involved and just to learn a little bit about what happened and was involved in WWII. I learned a lot from those games about what took place back then. They keep coming out with Madden football games and like wow how many different kind of versions can they come out with a football game but I don't put it down for the simple reason that people like to play them.

I just play NBA games as a sports game, I do think WW2 has been 'milked' enough. Yes, I have learned a lot from them, but, after CoH, COD2, MoH. I have just about had enough, the only thing that gets to me is that it is repetitive and of course it is, it's a fact of history. Another thing, it's the same creators that keep making the same games, i.e. Infinity Ward, the new COD4 will be better though. We need more Korean war games, my grandfather(deceased) is a Korean war veteran, I never met him, but my dad always told me that he would always recall his days around an M26 Pershing Tank. I would like a game just to set the tone of Korea, to see what he basically went through, although it will be far from exact.

You are right and I agree about milking out WWII games. I never seen and game based on Korean and wouldn't mind learning more about that war. There is something about the games I play and would more then likely want to learn more about the Korean war if more games were based on that.

I guess WWII was "milked" so much because for one, it was a really famous war, but I think more importantly it's because it was one of the first major wars that was fought using guns, tanks, artillery, aircraft, ships, etc, all at once. They have games based on the civil war times and revolutionary war, but they arent as exciting.

Very true, weapon diversity will always take the cake....

very simply put, WWII kicked ass (in a "ignore the death and ruin" sort of way)

seriously though, omega said it well... the video game industry milked it till it died. take battlefield 1942- that game did/does rock, but all the developers copied it, put a minor twist to it, gave it a name and threw it on store shelves. plus, BF1942 came out right before the war in iraq, so, for a while obsolete warfare was great, but iraq showed that modern warfare is 'cooler'.
i still play battlefield 1942 often, but i use the desert combat mod. i haven't played the original BF1942 in at least a year.
so, the reason, i think that the WWII games died out is because the video industry milked it out and the war in iraq (along with other things, like Halo) made modern warfare more popular.

i watched an interview on this subject, strangely enough and the reason that they dont make games based off of current or recent wars is because when people see the game, (most recently on the xbox) something like operation: desert storm, they get really angry because they know people that may have died or been injured in that war. the developers are afraid of being shut-down because of criticism from ppl who might become angry, they learned though, when operation: desert storm had a protest march against it on opening day. games like ghost recon and CoD are much less likely to attract negative attention. i heard all this by one of the lead developers from the company that made medal of honor on CNN

Well actually I never really thought about that. When you say it like that it completely makes since. Just like what you guys said what about a Korean war game or what about Vietnam. Because as lovely has explained or quoted if you will. people will speculate all modern war games. Thats why I think COD 4 will have mixed emotions some might hate it like others hate harry potter. Still I am not saying COD4 wont be a good game. Oh you bet your ass it will.

i was signifying the fact that the game will be awesome, but it sux that my computer probably cant run it

EDIT: sorry, i had a mistype, the game was actually CONFLICT: desert storm
