X-Fi, Microphones & Vista

Howdy,

We're trying to get my dad's new sound card to work with Vista and his microphone. He uses Dragon Naturally Speaking and there's no sound coming out according to Dragon. Any ideas?

What kind of sound card is it? Can you give us a link to the model?

He said it's an X-Fi in the title.

The X-Fi only has one input, which can be used as a line-in or mic-in. Dragon Speaking may not see any audio because the X-Fi software is set for line-in as the default. Go to to volume control center, or the X-Fi program center, and change the default line input to microphone, instead of line-in.

Thing is, we can't, I'm on XP and I can but on Vista he doesn't have the control panel so he's stuck with the panel Vista provides. We set the X-Fi microphone as default, it said it was working, tested it and nada.
