If you were to buy a new card, what one of these would you buy?

Before i decide im waiting on benchmarks, but the X1800 looks very impressive with its 90nm process and 1.5Ghz memory.

how the heck are we to decide, ati only just announced the X1800. I dont even think its been sent out for benchies or blurbs yet.

Mabe in a few week?

I dunno, all these "proven honest to gosh tests" that I keep seeing floating around the internet keep stating that the X1800 will cream the 7800GTX in every single benchmark/game available, and the same goes for all there lower cards compared to the 6800GT, and the 6600GT.

But isn't this what ATi does with every card release, hype up the "MHz!!11!!1!" and make it look faster, but as the informed keep remarking, "it still has less pipelines, all that power is being wasted on a 16-pipe card."

I think it will be neck and neck, they will probably outperform eachother in several benchmarks, making it a very hard decision to find the "best" card. But not nVidia is already planning to go with there "8XXX" line of cards, and ATi supposedly also has plans to release yet another line of cards after this new one hits the shelves. I tell you ATi is falling behind, planning one thing before what they are advertising has even hit the shelves yet.

It sounds like they are jsut trying to keep up with nVidia, but you might be right. You'd think if they wanted to sell these X1800's, they'd let them sit on the market for a while and not have us anticipating the NEWER line b4 we can even get our hands on the NEW ones lol.

I have yet to see a 'real' benchmark, everything so far has been theoretical. I posted a few pics in one of the other omg ati pwnz threads.

Really as of now I would go with the 7800 only because there is already SLI right now. We dont really know much about crossfire and I would hate to spend $100-$200 more on another motherboard with a $500 that I just bought.

I'm an ATI fan so I say the X1800 :) But, since its not released yet, we'll have to wait and see.

ati says that you can choose between 4 modes, such as maximum performance, best image quality, ect. Not sure how it compares to SLI though. But you need to connect the cards on the outside, which seems a little weird.
