x1950 pro 256 mb vs 512mb and extra 100 mhz

im about to buy a x1950 pro and am wondering which to get

The second is £10 more but has double the ram and i slightly faster clock speed of the ram.
But ive heard that 512mb of ram on a mid range card wont do anything in terms of performance, so should i buy the 256 or 512

Im looking to spend as little as possible, is £10 worth it for a higher clock speed bearing in mind it wil consume more power and i oculd always overclock the 256's ram speed?

I would go with the 512MB version, it's better for rendering textures, so you can have the resolution higher, I had to make this decision with the 7950GT and I have to say it was worth it, it's a lot better than my old 7900GS, which only had 256MB of memory.

Finally some one now knows what I'm talking about when it comes to Vram
 
It really depends. More recently benchmarks have surfaced showing no difference at all between the 320Mb and 640Mb version of the 8800gts (Kill Bill likes to ignore these). But these are newer cards with better memory management.. With the older Dx9 cards the diference can be more profound but still nothing mind-blowing, at the very most I might say 20 extra FPS and at the least zero. Games like FEAR don't receive a performance boost at all when using a 512Mb over a 256Mb..
 
WAIT A SECOND.

I missed the part where he said it was only $20 bucks more. That's super cheap, spring for it IMO.
