X1xxx Series -> Little Help

I'm thinking of getting an ATI X1xxx series video card (on PCIe) for my computer. I was just wondering, what do you think I should get? I'm on a budget for a video card that costs about 225 dollars CND and I was wondering if you think I should stick with buying a x1650 or a x1950xtx? Of the 2, the latter requires power cables to the cards themselves and costs about double the price... right now. When Vista comes out and all of the Direct X 10 cards follow suite, I was predicting that there may be a price drop in the x1950xtx in which case I would love to snap one up for under 225, even with the added wattage. Do you think I should go along with this? The x1650xt doesn't need its own cables and takes up about half the wattage and less than half in crossfire. It also runs cooler I believe and would be used kind of like a half way card until I get to a x1950xtx. Basically, the faster I can get an x1950xtx, the better. (By the way, my computer will be used for the occassional game, but more likely for graphics processing in the future. My motherboard is an ASUS M2r32-mvp capable of crossfire, just in case I need it in the future.)

dont get ati, right now they are not at theyre best, i would recommend a 7900 gs or even 7950 gt. If YOU really dislike nvidia then go for an ati x1950xtx

Well, to me it doesn't really matter which one, but I am getting an AMD processor and I've heard that they work together quite well (especially since AMD owns ATI.)

The x1900XT/x1950XT outperform the 7900GS and 7900GT easily, they are the best cards out now besides the G80 and the 7950GX2.
