X2 3800+ or Opteron 144?

Hello. Ive been reading all these threads about opteron and i was planning on getting the x2 3800 but now im halting my decision. no one has really talked about the 144 so i dont really know much about it. how does it compare to the x2 3800?

i would get the opteron cause its cheaper and you can overclock it and it will have good performance but if you dont want to do that then get the x2.

The Opteron you've selected is a single core, but there are dual core versions. It's not really fair to compare the X2 3800+ to the 144, a more accurate comparison is to compare the X2 3800+ to the Opteron 165 (a dual core Opteron).

Of the two (3800+ and 165), I would say the Opteron 165 is a better choice if you intend to overclock, and the X2 3800+ is a better choice if you don't.

In any case, I would not get the 144.

i thought the 144 was dualcore and i look on newegg and its not. the 165 is a better choice but i think it as much as the X2. either one would be good choice.
