Ok I want to get a higher 3dmark score with the processor and I want to run multitask. I know the x2 5000+ will certainly do job with multitask what about the 3dmark?

As of now the fx-60 is the best cpu in the world.

yea, agreed. you cant get the 5000+ yet. it will probably have similar specs as the FX-60 though. ill bet that the specs are exactly the same... MAYBE a 512kb cache. either way right now the FX-60 is the way to go, man.

Most likely it will have a 512kb cash because the 4800 has the 1mb cache.... but would that mean there is a 5200+ coming maybe?:D ;)

we gamers can only hope :D

Yeh, we don't even have specs on the 5000+ yet. Also remember it'll need a different mobo, and will support DDR2 RAM. In short, you're looking at pretty much an entirely different config.

x2 5000 will own fx 60,
mainly its on a new socket, am2...

you should have compared x2 5000 vs. fx 62
i heard fx 62 is comming very soon when thesocket am2 is reliesed.

You can't really say that... seeing as how no one even has specs on the 5000+. Also if it has a 512kb cache then there might be a 5200+:D:D:D

By then, there will be another FX CPU out... just watch. The FX series is AMD's top of the line, I'm pretty sure that they won't let their med-high CPU's beat their top competetors(sp?)

Well games are going to take advantage of dual core cpu's what do you say about that? How will fx60 handle that?

Haha you wanna know? One word... hopefully your not new to computers ;)

that word:

P\/\/n@G3!!!!!!

Pro, you do know that the FX-60 is a dual core CPU... right?

X2 5000+ is a dual core and fx 60 is dual core and games are coming out for dual core processors. What advantage will the x2 5000+ have against fx 60 since both of them will be dual core. Not to mension the am2.

You have the X2 4800+ for GOD's sake! That should be more than plenty for anything you throw at it. The FX60 is a dual-core CPU as I hope you are aware of, hence you will see a relatively small performance increase with apps that take advantage of the dual core feature over the X2 4800+ which is clocked lower. It is stupid I am sorry to say just buying things to get a higher score when you already have something as good as you have .

JAN :D

Lol. well said, but I don't think that Pro was aware of the fact that the FX-60 was a dual-core CPU, seeing as how he asked how the FX-60 will do with multi-threaded apps. Pro, M2 was a project that has been changed to AM2. They will feature AMD's new socket 940 CPU's... the X2 5000+ will debut when AM2 is released to the public. I can bet my life there will be another FX CPU that will be coming out with the 5000+.

so that's what i am saying, x2 5000 gatta be better than fx 60, for sure...

its newer, and its going to be on a socket am2, while fx60 is on socket 939.
if you were to compare a cpus, x2 5000 and fx 60 is the worng topic.

you should compare fx 62 and x2 5000, where fx 60 might be better.

but right now, its "common sense" that the x2 5000 must be better than old fx 60

yea, if i were you id simply overclock that 4800+ of yours... or wait to see the specs of the M2 socket processors. sorry, we dont have an answer on the 5000+, you'll just have to wait.

IMO, the 5000+ might tie with the FX-60... but I can't prove this seeing as how it's not out yet:D.

Right now I'm just wondering what the FX line will be like. However, I'm going to keep my eye on the 5000+ becuz I'm getting that or the (new)4800+. The next CPU's, ATi's X1900, and nVidia's new cards should prove to be a very interesting year.

Also, if anyone hears about the new motherboards for AM2, send me a private message or just post here I guess :D. Hopefully there will be another DFI Lanparty or a new A8n-32:)
