Going from an Athlon 5000+ Brisbane to an Athlon 7850+ Kuma won't be much of an upgrade.

I did notice a small difference in the past when I upgraded from an Athlon 4600+ to an Athlon 7750+ Kuma. But it wasn't much more performance.

In my opinion I would save for a new motherboard and go with an Athlon II Processor, a Phenom II 545, or Phenom II 550 Dual-Core Processor. Just get a decent quality motherboard that uses DDR2 memory.

What board do you have? It may be capable of upgrade to an Athlon II.

Probably in your best interests to save and go for a new motherboard/cpu/memory when you get the chance, a kuma wouldnt be a heck of a large upgrade from an athlon.

yah, i agree with everyone on here, i went from a 5200+ [bris] overclocked to 2.9ghz, very mild overclock, but i went to a 8750 BE, and overclocked it to 2.7ghz, and i noticed a difference in games, the fps in crysis, went up by about 6 or 8fps i forget, but it was good. And my video encoding was a hell of a lot better. I went from about 90fps, to about 130fps, that was amazing. I was impressed. Im gonna keep this system for about 1 more year or soo., then ill move on to those 6 core amd's bulldozer? or w/e its called.

EDIT: i kinda babbled on, i would wait and get a new setup(mobo ram proc)
