I'm currently building a budget system and just wanted your guys' input quickly.
Most of the Core 2 Duo's are out of my price range. The ABSOLUTE most I can spend on a CPU is $140 and so the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ really caught my eye, because it's right at that price. After reading a few reviews though, people have said that it isn't that great of an overclocker and can only get it to about 3.2GHz from it's original 2.8GHz. That didn't really impress me.
Now, this is where I'm not sure what to do. There are some other CPUs such as the X2 4000+ which people have claimed to get to 3.2GHz. Should I get a cheaper CPU such as this that has GREAT overclocking capability and save the money or should I go with the more expensive 5600+?
Or, am I completely missing the boat here and clueless on what I'm trying to do. Basically, I'm just looking for suggestions on a CPU EXACTLY at or under $140. Please help me choose the best CPU for my money! Thanks!!
