X2 6000+ vs E6600

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ vs the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600.

From what I can tell, while the X2 is not as good as the E6600, it's actually quite close, especially in terms of gaming. With the X2 being 70 dollars cheaper than the E6600, is the X2 better bang for my buck? I've had a part-list together for some time and, as prices change, have been updating it over the past couple of months. Until now, my build has centered around intel processors, mainly the E6400 or the E6600. Now I am wondering if my gaming rig would be better off if I went with the X2, as this would afford me some money to put into better RAM or a vid card.

But as you said, the X2 is cheaper, so for the price it's a great processor. It also comes down to the motherboard, since AM2 motherboards are usually alot cheaper then the mid/high end LGA775 boards.

I would say they are about equal without the OC'ing, don't rely on ext speed to measure, it is all pipelines now.

If intel does in fact come through with it's price cuts on the 22nd, it will be about the same price, if not cheaper with some of the info.

Isnt the price of that 6000+ a new price, AMD price cuts already happened? I think just a week or two ago its price was higher than the E6600.

IMO I would go with the Intel. It is very overclockable, I have my E6600 OCed to 3.1GHz stable without any voltage changes, or any changes other than FSB.
