I'm looking to make a new computer for myself, thats a mid-level gaming (i game a lot but i don't want to spend too much)
I was thinking of Cross-fire, and saw the cheepest crossfire is with x850 XTs, I would only but a normal XT first, then a crossfire edition later.
Is this still a competitive card? (non-crossfire, just the x850 XT)

I saw that the shaders are only version 1, but for only $125.99 with a rebate it's SOO convinsing.
The most intense game i'd be running is a Battlefield 2 demo (i'm too cheep to buy the real thing for now :-P), CS:S, DoD:S, HL2 Deathmatch, and a F.E.A.R. demo, what kind of Frames per second will i get with this with a Athlon X2 4200 and 1 gig of DDR2 ram?

The X850XT is still a very good card, and you wont have any problems playing those games you've listed, or just about any other game for that matter.

I think you should go w/ 2 nvidia 7600GT's for sli. I have a setup w/1 7600gt and it runs hl2 and css on full specs flawlessly. Plus, I got my evga 7600GT for 139.99 (after mailin) on newegg, and I think they still have that deal, or one like it, so check it out. Personally tho, i really dont like ati's, but that may just be me.

Alright TY
I'll get the X850 XT for my build, would you recomend going Crossfire, or just say screw it and get a better card when i need an upgrade?

also i'm going to be more partial to ATI, since AMD officially took ATI over >>

The X850XT is a terrific card still, mine can play any game on high-max settings.

I wouldn't bother with Crossfire, I would wait a while then just purchase a much better card.

No the x850xt is an excellent card, much better option the the 7600gt's, its not worth sli'ing two midrange cards.

And computer guys stop spammin laptops for me, I've seen like 3 or 4 of your posts and tahts all it says, stop, spamming is not allowed.
