Xbox 360 ban question

Hello,

I bought an xbox 360 console on ebay, but the buyer did not tell me it was blocked from xbox live, is there any way to get it unblocked or anything? Thanks!

You should try to get your money back with paypal (that's if you used paypal)

You should be able to format the hard drive and start from scratch.

You shouldnt be using his Xbox live account anyways (unless he said it came with it). I'm guessing he was either banned or closed his account, and thats why he sold.

You will need to reformat the hard rive (theres an option to do so), and then buy Xbox live yourself.

Xbox can and does ban mac addresses for certain offences just like pc's they have similar setups. My guess is try formatting the hdd if that doesnt work call their support number after trying your own account and tell them your story they may ask for proof of purchase...

Microsoft now bans Xbox 360 consoles by serial number, not mac address... they do it because people were and are chipping their consoles to gain advantage over others on Xbox Live.

in another word ur console had been moded/flashed before by ______ <--the person who sell u ur 360. Thats one crap thing when purchesing item over on ebay, u cant test the console before buying. U might be able to save a hundred or two but will now u have to deal with it. I'm afrid there is just no way to get ur 360 unban from live. Blame the one who sell u ur 360.

Assuming that it's a banned MAC address, then there really isn't anything you can do. A format won't do a thing to change the MAC address.
