xbox 360 elite freezeing

I have a xbox 360 elite and it keeps freezing after about 20 min of play. This happens on any game, the unit just becomes unresponsive to everything. The fans are working and the unit does not get hot. What can this be caused from? what can I do to try and fix it?
 
I dont know much about 360s but as been as nobody has replied il try and help my best.

The freezing is probably due to overheating,The 360 are known for this and usualy it results in the RROD....because they have crap cooling. :o

If the console still has warrenty then id send it back to Microsoft,get them to sort it out.

If you dont have any warrenty then it wont harm anything opening it up yourself then you could do what alot of people do,...clean it inside to get rid of dust,take off the heatsinks and re-apply thermal paste etc.


You can also buy external 360 cooler which are soppose to help.

Yah I am out of warranty, How ever I can pay $100 to have Microsoft fix it, If I open it up and try and fix it and it does not work, Can I still pay the $100 and have Microsoft fix it? Will the touch it even if I open it?
 
I guess ill just send it in and have them work on it, I dont want to take any chances, Really would rather pay $100 then $300.
 
Its still freezing a lot and I dont feel like spending the $100 to send it in, So I think I am gonna just try to fix it on my own. Since I never took apart a 360 before, can some one list some steps on what I should do to try and resolve this issue? And if any one has any pictures that would be helpful. Thanks.
 
Update: any time I load COD MW2, when you start the game where it says infinity ward it displays it all pixalated once you press start it displays normal again..... and it seams to only freeze during cod, i can play soul calaber 2 and videos fine and it wont freeze, my cod mw2 disk runs fine in my old xbox... what can cause this?
