then don't use a router, because those also act as DHCP servers. Don't stress out everybody has to learn sometime and with computers most things hardly work perfect the first time. Just remember that.

Would I just be connected my server to the router from the network card to the switch, or from the on board ethernet to the switch?

Then my server just has to be on for it to work?

okay, having two DHCP servers can cause many conflicts so either have everything on the switch plus your server, or add the router and remove the server

I knew I could only have one or the other.
But which would be best?
Like, what would the server be doing? Just have to be turned on and connected via ethernet?

Connecting it to the server didn't work.

I tried my wireless/wired router.

The router has a phone line and a cross over cable connected to it.

The phone line is going to the phone jack. The cross over is going to the 1st port on the switch. Then, two ethernets are connected to the switch. Both going to separate xbox's.

I signed both of those connected xbox's online.
Now, what would I do for a LAN?

We probably couldn't go in Match Making. Cause it would probably be laggy.
Would we just connect in a custom game?
