XFS GF8500GT on Gateway GM 5472 or not?

I have a Gateway GM 5472 which comes with on-board video (nvidia 6100 with a memory bandwidth of 3.5). I bought an XFS GF8500GT video card with 512mb or ram and was wondering if this would be any great enhancement to my PC? I haven't opened it yet. I haven't had any problems with the PC but thought this may be a good upgrade for performance. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the quick response! I actually haven't played any games on it. We bought it for a family PC and my daughters have used it to watch and my boys use web based things like cartoon network.com, etc.

Is this PC good for gaming with this card? Is this why I would get the card?

Let me know.
 
it'll be fine for casual gaming, not just any of the hardcore stuff like crysis. my friend plays cod4 well on a 8500.
