XFX 4890 Locks up

Video Card: XFX 4890
Intel i7 920
Foxxcon Blood rage
Corsair 850 watt PSU

I just built my computer and installed Windows 7 64bit onto it. Now when i start up world of warcraft and try to play the computer locks up on the loading screen. i dont know why this happens.

i installed all the drivers from the ati site and evevrything
 
Have you removed and reseated the graphics card?

Made sure you have both the 6 pin power connectors plugged in on the card?
 
Have you tried any other games it could be the game did not install correctly but if it does this on other games then it might be a hardware issue it could be something besides your GPU. If you have overclocked your graphics card any then clock it back to stock speeds I was have a similar problem a little while back but mine was because I had my card overclocked to high and it wasn't stable. If you have any other games to test then do that if not then go to steam.com and download a few demos and see what happens.

i tried warcraft III and that worked. i have not overclocked my GPU is just new this entire computer is like 5 days old.

If the other games is working fine then it is probably just the game I would uninstall it and reinstall it and then if it still does then same thing It could be a bad disc. If that is the case then try downloading it from the internet.
 
ya id def say its wow's fault. #1 rule: if something goes wrong and wow is involved (ie:life) then its def wow's fault. JK
 
since i installed it onto a external harddisk and when i try run it onto other computers it works just find but not on this computer

But you said the other game worked fine right in that case it is not your computer I suggest you download steam and download a couple demos to make sure. I still don't think it is your GPU if it was your GPU nothing would happen until you start playing then you might get a BSOD or something but freezing is either a game issue or maybe a HDD problem.
 
not the port because ive installed the game both on my harddrive and on the external drive.

downloading bioshock demo right now...takes a while but when thats finished i will tell you the results

When you installed the game did you use the disk if so you might have got a bad disk with missing or corrupted files. You could try installing it from WOW.com if you can do that(I'm not sure I have never played the game) or you can call the company and tell them what's happening and they should send you a new disk.
 
well the one i downloaded i installed onto my computer the one thats on my external harddrive i installed a long time ago with the CD's

thats why im doubting its a problem with the actual game
 
1. i downlaoded everything and intalled it onto my new computer's harddrive caviar black 500gb

2. i had it installed onto my Ipod and was able to play it on my dads 64-bit vista

So you downloaded it from a site correct if so which site was it a torrent site if so then you probably just got a bad copy.

Ok then I still don't think it is your computer and if it is then it isn't the GPU how long has it been since you installed the game and has it played before or has it always froze at the start up screen. Have you tried re-downloading the game you might have just got a bad download.
