hello i got a ATI 5970 (2GB) Black edition and I'm having way lower FPS ratings than this site says I should have

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/165

I lag in world of warcraft and also mw2

I run very low fps in Darksiders (25 MAX)(I see my friends with GTX 260 run it with no problems)

I got no heat problems.
Drivers: 10.9
System:
Mobo:ASUS Rampage II Extreme Republic of Gamers
Ram: Corsair Dominator 2000mhz 6gb
processer2.67ghz i7 920
PSU 850watt
5970 xfx 2gb black edition.

try doing some benchmarks like 3dmark vantage.

shouldn't be the cpu, ram, or psu. you already ruled out the drivers.

this may sound silly, but are you running it in full-screen mode?

maybe try downloading and installing msi afterburner and looking at your clocks when running the game. make sure they are going up to the 3d clocks and not staying in 2d or downclocking.

It almost sounds like faulty hardware, only because he's tried a whole range of drivers and doesn't seem to gain much. And come on, even with outdated drivers, a 5970 SHOULD be getting more than 25 FPS in Darksiders...

i build this computer like .. 6-12months ago now when i first started it up with the drivers it came with didnt even work ... I had to download the drivers before i got it to work, and then it couldent even play battlefield badcompany 2. now i can barely just run it in max settings .. but what blows my mind is i can only run 20-25fps in darksider when my friend with a older pc and a 260 gtx in it runs it with 70fps

basicly my 5970 is just shit compared to all my friends... and they got nVidia :/ seems like ill go for a new card for christmas.. too tired of atis BS customer service .. have e mailed them 4times with no replies yet. over 4weeks.

rather have a card that works probably and runs alittle lower tho still better than this !"&/#!)#!

email xfx, not ati. Start the process from here:

because it didn't initially work and you have gone through a load of troubles, I would tend to agree it is a hardware issue, rather than software. The only thing that could potentially make it software is if you didn't properly uninstall the drivers from your old card properly (assuming you upgraded, rather than just built the system new).

You have to remember that although it is frustrating that you have troubles, 1 card out of the thousands out there isn't a good sample. I wouldn't let it change your view of the quality of xfx or ATi in general, after all, look at this thread, Lubo, joh, Philaay and myself all have ATi cards, and all of them are working perfectly in all games, and joh also has a 5970 which works completely fine. There is always a chance of getting faulty hardware, and unfortunately, it has happened to you. It has happened to just about all of us at 1 time or another, but once we get a replacement, it works fine like the vast majority of the products sold

If you had the settings on high, that is about right for your card, so it would appear that your card is fine

he was using the stock settings. but even then, those are about the right numbers when using stock clocks.

what other games have you tried?
