guys i can only offer one of these two cards which one should i go for and if it is the Ati then would you please post the name and the card number because there are many manufacturers and i don't know which one should i chose

XFX 8600 GT OR ATI 1950 512 pro

thanks

The 1950pro. As to brand, They are all very similar with small differences. But If you want the best go for Sapphire.

well i have another questions also i have 2 choices for the processor e6600 intel or the amd 6000 and i will not over clock so which i should chose?
thanks

They are very close at stock speeds so it's purely up to your preference. I believe the C2d lga775 socket will last longer than the X2 am2 socket, you can factor that in if you want. :)

I would get E6600 because it consume much less power and produce less heat than 6000+

You would have to have Windows Vista to utilize the DX10 functionality offered by the 8600, if you are running XP definitely go for the 1950 Pro, if you are running Vista it is up to you. (Keep in mind the X1950 Pro is a more powerful card.)O

Go for ATI 1950 because it's a high end card and 8600GT is a mid range card.So it is obvious that this ATI card gona perform better than 8600 while gaming.

Go for the 8600gt, u are not asking him his priority, sure the ATI is faster, but even if he dosn't run vista now who nows in 2 moths, if u buy the ATI, u will need to change your card in couple months or 1 year because you'll need dx10, so if u wanna change your card again in 6 month or 1 year, go for the ATI, but if u wanna keep it for a little while, go for the nVidia, as for the brand i'd recommand XFX, eVGA or BFG, sice they all have the lifetime warranty (u need to register the eVGA and XFX online if u wanna get this warranty).

For the processor, i'd go with intel, architecture of intel is better and u are getting more performances, but u souldn't go with an E6600, go for the new generation with a FSB of 1333MHz(E6550,E6750,E6850), exept if u dont wanna change your present mobo .

U should have all u need there.

Buying a 8600gt to use dx10 is an oximoron. I wouldn't be surprised if the 8600gt blew up while attempting to play Crysis (the first dx10 game, i think)

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can! ....Oh crap. *explodes*

I'd say the 1950Pro.
I have it.
love it.

but if you're going for dx10, go for the 8600.
1950Pro for anything d9 and below.

I disagree with the dx10 thing, this card will be very capacle to run crysis but it wont run it to higher settings for sure. I think Lost Planet have full dx10 version too, but i'm not sure. I think UT3 will have it, but i'm not sure again

I was being unrealistic, for the sake of my weird sense of humor. XD

It might be able to play it low.. maybe low-med. Seriously though, this card gives about as much as my 7600gt. I don't think it's going to be a very good choice at all, if you're using it to play crysis.

Hell, this is not to say that i wish it wouldn't. Screw Crysis, the graphics card bully.

DX10 wont be in full force for quite awhile, and the 1950 blows the 8600 out of the water, like previously said, getting an 8600 for DX10 games is a complete oximoron.

I have one 8600GT and I have been using it for a month. At initial period I didn't liked this but it's been around a week it's performing better and and I am loving it.It can max out fear and doom3.

Like I said it gives as much as my 7600gt. I love my 7600gt, I've paired it with an Oced X2 3800 and I can play Oblivion maxed, every slider to the right, every option on. They're both really great cards right now.. But the difference is your card supports Dx10, meaning that it's supposed to last, to play these dx10 games.. But I can't see it doing so satisfactorily.
