XFX HD 5970 Black Edition LIMITED $15,099.99

So is an individual actually spending that much on that card?

No, it is a viral marketing technique. XFX just switched from making Nvidia cards to ATI cards because there was some fall out between them and Nvidia. This is their viral marketing scheme to let the public know they are now offering new video card lines.

it actually is a stolen card. why would they send out an e-mail offering a reward (which I just responded to with the info on it so that reward is mine) and saying that the person in question would be arrested? xfx would viral market, but it is illegal to ask for information leading to an arrest AND claiming a stolen object. That is fraud

Uhh, maybe you should read the email XFX sent out to everyone:

It's not illegal to claim something is stolen, as long as you arent claiming such to the police or such.

Also, dont double post the same topic.....:gun:

The second email clearly states the eBay auction is valid.

I didn't double post the same topic in your section, so what do you care?

The eBay auction is not valid, at all. It is viral marketing. They are using ebay to advertise, and eBay is probably getting something out of it.

The ebay auction is indeed valid, XFX has even stated via email that it is. However, with 0 feedback users bidding the prices that high up, nobody is going to pay for it.

Doesnt matter what section it is, you shouldnt have posted it in two different sections in the first place.

who craes if its fake, those videos are awesome! to be honest this is probably one of the coolest ad campaigns i have ever seen. quite creative!

I've seen this reported all over the place... it's just advertising. I haven't even got an email about a stolen 5970 lol.

Who do you think is jacking up the prices? It is not valid, it is viral marketing. Sure it may follow all the rules of ebay but it doesn't mean that those bids are valid, or weren't done by XFX staffers.

People who got the email, and saw the ebay auction?

I'm the guy that bid 999,999.00 just to see what happens. Hope nobody outbids me.....:good:

Just Kidding this is insane nobody in their right mind would pay 1 million dollars for a video card...:D

As a moderator, he has the right to make suggestions to members, regardless of the section he moderates. Instead of rolling your eyes at him with an internet emoticon, be respectful, don't argue, and, in the future, don't double post. It's common sense forum etiquette.
