XFX HD4850 1g XXX overclocking?

The factory speeds are 650/1050, any time I try to push them further the cards crash. Temps are staying around 60c under full load. I have used riva, CCC, and Ati tool. I have heard of the 4850's going to 750 stable, I would like to break the 18000k mark with this rig... its not going to happen without a little more out of the video as the cpu is as far as it will go, on air that is. Im a newb when it comes to overclocking video so any advice is great...

CCC/driver version is 9.12

how far do you go when it crashes? does the computer just shut off? what are you using for temp monitoring?

wow, that is weird. could be the card. every card is different (even between identical cards) when overclocking. it COULD (though i have never heard of a case like this) be that you got a lemon overclocker... are you overclocking while in crossfire? in your sig it says you have two in crossfire.

well ati is definitely NOT knows for great drivers... i do not have any experience with crossfiring at all, but it could be. have you tried oc'ing each individually?

Well as an update is was not CF I had a card that was weak :[ . I used them both ind. for about 2 days running ati tool display at the beginning all was well but by the end of the second day the original secondary card was artifacting REALLY BAD, so I tried to clock it down from the stock speed to see if i could stabilize it but, no go. It took the new clock and (crash.... bang) its toast. It is now on its way back to XFX for repair/replacement. Thanks for the input guys.
