XMS vs ValueSelect

Im planning on getting 2x 1GB sticks of DDR400 memory. Im debating between the Corsair ValueSelect for $85 or the Corsair XMS CL2 for $130. Im into gaming, want to get into video editing, and i plan to overclock.

generaly, if you are doing gaming and videoediting. dont get the value stuff. unless you have a REALLY tight budget. quality is very important in computer stuff.

not for performance, even if you have two sticks of ram exactly the same specs, ecept one is value ram, and one is performance. the performance ram will almost always beat the value ram

Value RAM is fine if you know what to get.

This is very true, if you are "in" with RAM, then you can sometimes detect good value RAM that will out perform the really expensive stuff.

But for the most part, if you want to overclock, get the good stuff. I wouldn't particularly get XMS RAM, but it will be better than standard Value RAM from Corsair for overclocking.

I'd rather get the XMS, since the OCZ w/ CL2 costs $135.

What one would you choose?

XMS CL3 (3-3-3-8) for $106
or
XMS CL2 (2-3-3-6) for $122

fair enough, money doesn't grow on trees.

The cas2 stuff is what i would get. CAS3 on a gaming rig will hurt performance, and probably won't overclock well either.
