XP bugs after formating

I recently formatted my computer and ended up with a few bugs. I have no sound when I try to plan an mp3 file with winamp i get an error msg saying: "Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error Code: 88780078". My screen starts to lag when I scroll down on IE (it makes a flip book effect). I also lag when I hover a window around the screen. I never had these prolems before formating. Can someone help?
 
Reformat. It sounds as tho there were some errors while windows was being installed, give a reformat a go, i know it sounds gay, but did you actually install all the drivers that came with your mobo.... lol
 
After re-instaling windows again have you re-instaled your sound drivers/Graphics drivers etc?
 
If you havnt already instaled the latest Sound/Graphics drivers then do so.

Then it would be a good idea to instal the K-Lite codec pack which is great for those multimedia files that need diffrent codecs to play.
Also have you tried VLC media player?

Vlc media player & K-Lite codec pack combined together are great....there hasnt been any video/audio file that my system cant play with Vlc media player so far.;)
