XP Defrag

Is there a maximum size hard drive that Windows Defrag will defrag? I just got a 250gig hard drive and someone said Defrag will not get it all. Thanks.

Diskeeper Ver 9 supported drives 100G or Lower. Diskeeper ver 10 removed that barrier and supports drives 60G or larger. Ver 10 runs into the Terrabyte range. There is no indication what size the built in defrag in XP will support. This defrag was built by Diskeeper and has been in use for several years. I do not know if MS patches have upgraded this version or whether it runs in it's native format. If it is running in the native format, my guess is that it will fall into the 100G or lower capacity mentioned above.

they probably just meant it wont fix ALL the fragmentation

windows defrag wouldn't catch all the fragmentation on a 3.5" floppy, tho

the key is multiple passes

I don't think it matters how big it is, You can still defragment it!

I know that you have to have above a certain amount to defrag though, something like 500MB I think?

I found this out when my sister's computer was running slow and she had 3MB of space left!
