xp doesnt like overclocking

Hey i was hopeing someone could help me. I was messing around with an old duron 750, that has windows xp pro installed on it. I decided to overclock it. however everytime I overclocked it windows wouldnt start up. It would come the the black screen with the XP logo and the loading bar down the bottom then it would just reset. Can someone help me out... It would be a shame if I cant make it work in XP I overclocked to chip to 900.

Try overclocking in smaller steps, note down the level before your pc restarts. That is a 'safe' level of overclocking.

Yeah you pushed it too far. Overclock in small increments of 5Mhz perhaps and move up. Note down when it stops responding and resets and make sure that you go below that level. Then run some tests and if all is good, you have got yourself an oc'd PC :)

sounds like you're at the point where you need more voltage if you wanna keep pushing. if you more up in small increments you will also find the exact point where you need to add a little more voltage.

Its not the fact that I put it up to high. I started out with a 750 first step up was 754 did not boot into windows. in fact none of them did. so far the only reasonable advice someone has given was about the voltage. I have read alot of advice colums and how to guides, so I know a bit about overclocking. I just want to know if there is a problem with XP and an overclocked Duron processor. Has anyone else ever had trouble with durons??
