XP formatting trouble

Once you load the driver you will be able to run the installer like normal and be able to format your HD

Every single time you want to install winxp from an actual MS WinXP disc you must load the drivers.

Like I said, vista is suppose to fix this.

I have always ran SATA drives.

BTW, thanks for all the help, Tlarkin. Once I get the floppy drive and disks I will let you know if it works.

yeah, i'm having this same exact problem, I also have a SATA drive and media card readers. unfortunately, i dont have a floppy drive. is there absolutely no other way to do this?

Yes, unfortunately it is a limitation of the installer, there is nothing you can do but just upgrade to vista, and even then you will still have to hit F6 to load third party devices. However, it is suppose to let you use a CDROM this time instead of floppy only. It is a flaw in its design in the windows xp installer.
