Xp Home or Xp Pro

Hey guys I have just bought the computer in my signature, but don't have an OS for it yet, the comuputer was just shipped from TigerDirect today. I can't afford the Xp Pro, but I can afford the Xp Pro upgrade. So to use that upgrade, would I have to Install like Windows 98, and then install the upgrade over that?

Or should I just use Xp Home edition? Or is there a cheaper version of the full XP pro?

Also which is better for Dual-core, does Home edition SP2 support HyperThreading now?

Thanks.

If you get XP Pro Upgrade, it will ask you to insert the previous version of windows's cd. So you dont need to install 98 first, just have the CD ready for when it asks you for it. I'd go with the XP Pro Upgrade.

Yes, during the installation of XP pro, it will ask you for a CD of a previous version of windows. Then you can put your 98 CD in.

Pro has a bunch of network administration tools that you don't get with Home. If you have multiple users or are going to network the computer, then go with Pro. If it's just you and the one computer, then Home will probably do nicely.
