xp home vs xp pro

Hey guys. Does anybody knows what are those differences between the 2 oem versions of windows xp other than pro having more security features? And which would it be recommended?

Other thoughts: Thinking of it to be used on amd athlon 64 x2 5000+ and powercolor x1950pro.
 
basicly i think the pro just has better security like you said and better networking stuff for businesses.

but i agree with Patrick...go with pro its better ;)
 
I appreciate for the fast response. So basically would you also recommend it for gaming as that is my primary purpose?
 
I think pro would be just as good, I have read reviews that said home was slightly faster and some that said they were the same:rolleyes:. I,ve used both and never really noticed a difference in performance.

no thats not true....ive ran both Xp home OEM and Xp pro Retail on the same rig and either one of them wasnt faster than the other,They were the same.

Thats true, one is not faster then the other. However XP Pro has more support for 2+ processors, the ability to join to a domain, more administrative tools built-in, advanced network settings and configurations, as well as several other things.

Basically, Pro will offer easier networking solutions, as well as make networking more streamlined. Not to say you cannot network with Home, but Pro just assumes you will want to and has already laid the groundwork. Bear in mind that Pro costs more than Home, and the above link is from MS, so they make it look like Pro is the way to go if you want to do everything. Just because Home has some 'Feature not Included' areas doesn't mean you can't do the feature listed, it just takes a bit of work and/or outside software.
 
Oh, Yea I agree there the same. The difference between the two I dont see why any of it would make the performance in gaming slower for Pro
