XP install --> Blue screen

I have just helped a friend reinstalling Windows XP on his computer (MyBook L51A-10). I put in the Windows cd, I deleted the two partitions that it had and made one instead. After that I formatted the harddisk and the computer copied the files from the cd like it's supposed to. It restarted and showed the Windows "loading screen". And here comes my problem. The computer shows a blue screen with a 0x0000007B code. I know there already is a lot of problem definitions on the internet but I couldn't find any solutions for my problem.

So I tried to start from the beginning and re-formatted the disk. This time I didn't get any error code but it showed another blue screen with a message before it reached the loading screen. It said (my own translation from danish to english -->): 'Windows couldn't start because of problems with the configuration of the hardware to the harddisk' and some further words.

Now, what could the problem be? A hardware problem? A version of XP (SP3) that doesn't work on that particular computer?

Really hope you can help

That would probably be your RAM or video card. Try using onboard grapics if you aren't already, and try booting with one stick of RAM. Also, you didn't open her up where something could be loose?

EDIT- I am not experienced, I was just coming up with a few ideas. Read what Johnb35 said, he's much more likely to be right than I am.

Ok it sounds like you are having a driver problem because the Mybook is possibly set in the bios to run in ahci/raid mode. Look in the bios to see if you can change the sata controller setting to IDE mode or compatiblity and try again.

I think you have a problem of driver installation so you have to check out in bios and try to solve out the problem. May some drivers would not be installed properly or may have some other problem.
