I have an older computer with XP on in. everything works on it, but its so old and has so much junk on it that I just want to reformat it. When I changed the boot sequence in BIOS the keyboard works just fine.....restart the comp, the screen says "Press any key to boot from CD"...I hit keys but its like its non responsive and something isnt communicating....I need some help please!

It sounds like it's time for a new keyboard!

If that's a usb model it will readily work while in the bios while not once leaving if something there for usb support is disabled. With an MS here believe it or not the usb model keyboard with an adapter pressing F8 requires swapping to a strictly standard keyboard when reaching the license agreement.

On an old system with dust buildup and other debris you may only have to use a can of air cleaner and a small brush to get under the keys themselves to see that fixed. Old keys will get sticky and gummed up from general use. But you will still likely want a new one anyways onhand for the new machine once you get into one.
