XP Not Showing My IDE Caddy Hard Drive

Hi,

I have put a IDE hard drive into a cabby and tried to attach it as a USB drive.

The problem I have is that Windows does not seem to recognise this even when the drivers have all been installed etc? the plug and play feature finds the drive, finds the cabby and seems to install it all fine but there is nothing under "My Computer" I have even goes into services.msc and tried finding the drive under storage managment but again their is nothing.

anything that you can suggest so that I can access the drive and ultimately format this.

Thanks

Scott

If the drive is not partitioned first you need to do that.

Right click My Computer->Manage->Expand the Storage Tree->Click on Disk Management

From there you should see an unpartitioned disk, you can right click it and partition/format. Once that's done the drive will show up in My Compuer.

You probably already did this but a reboot will be required after you plug it in and the drivers are installed.
